Exploring the 'Journey to Paldea' Event in Pokémon Go
The “Journey to Paldea” event in Pokémon Go offers an exciting dive into the Paldea region, introducing trainers to its unique inhabitants, such as the new rock salt Pokémon, Nacli. Running from December 2nd to December 9th, this event also provides significant bonuses, including doubled XP for winning raids and evolving Pokémon, making it an opportune time for players to enhance their collections and complete their Pokédex entries. Alongside this event, new seasonal “Precious Paths” Special Research and an optional Master Ball Masterwork Research are available for purchase.
Journey into Paldea: Event Overview and Challenges
For those seeking an enriched experience, a premium research option is available for $1.99. This research primarily rewards encounters with Bagon and Larvitar, making it particularly valuable for trainers looking to acquire these specific Pokémon. The research involves various catching tasks, culminating in rewards including a Nacli encounter, two Premium Battle Passes, and 3,000 Stardust.
The event features two distinct Collection Challenges: “Journey to Paldea: Violet” and “Journey to Paldea: Scarlet.” The Violet challenge requires catching Bagon, Misdreavus, Gulpin, Clauncher, Passimian, and Nacli, offering a Bagon encounter, 5,000 XP, and 3,000 Stardust as rewards. The Scarlet challenge involves catching Larvitar, Drifloon, Stunky, Skrelp, Oranguru, and Nacli, rewarding players with a Larvitar encounter, 5,000 XP, and 3,000 Stardust.
Field research tasks, obtainable from PokéStops, include catching five different species of Pokémon for a Nacli encounter, making ten great throws for a Larvitar or Bagon encounter, and powering up Pokémon ten times for another Nacli encounter.
Boosted spawns during the event feature a rotating roster of Pokémon. Nymble, Pawmi, Smoliv, and Nacli will appear more frequently throughout the event. Larvitar, Drifloon, and Skrelp will see increased spawns on December 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th, while Misdreavus, Bagon, and Clauncher will be more common on December 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th. Additionally, Gulpin, Stunky, Oranguru, and Passimian are expected to have boosted spawns based on the Collection Challenges. Notably, certain Pokémon like Larvitar and Bagon have an increased chance of appearing as Shiny forms. Players should be aware that these boosted spawns will not overlap with the Community Weekend event from 2 PM to 5 PM local time on December 6th and 7th.
Raid battles will also see changes, with three-star raids featuring Paldaen Tauros, Bombirdier, and Dondozo. It's important to remember that Paldaen Tauros has regional forms, influencing its appearance depending on the player's location.
This event offers a fantastic opportunity for Pokémon Go enthusiasts to explore new content, catch rare Pokémon, and benefit from significant in-game bonuses. The structured challenges and rotating spawns encourage consistent engagement, making it a rewarding experience for both casual and dedicated players. The introduction of new Pokémon like Nacli and the chance for Shiny encounters add an extra layer of excitement, ensuring that every trainer has something to look forward to during their “Journey to Paldea.”
