New 'Fox Hunt' Multiplayer Mode Revealed for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Konami, a company increasingly regaining its foothold in the gaming industry, recently showcased a fresh multiplayer experience named 'Fox Hunt' for its highly anticipated title, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Following the critical acclaim of Silent Hill f and the respectful remake of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami is building on its renewed momentum. This new mode was unveiled during a 'Metal Gear Production Hotline' livestream at the Tokyo Game Show, alongside a subtle announcement regarding 'Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Vol. 2.' The 'Fox Hunt' mode is set to launch on October 30, offering fans an exciting extension to the main game.
Designed around the core combat and stealth elements of Delta, 'Fox Hunt' promises high-stakes, cat-and-mouse encounters, casting players as prospective members of the legendary FOX unit. The mode supports up to twelve players and includes two distinct sub-modes: Survival Capture and Survival Intrude. Survival Capture is a multi-stage objective where success depends on finding and securing elusive Kerotan frogs, with their decreasing numbers forcing closer player interactions. Survival Intrude, on the other hand, challenges players to maintain control over specific zones that progressively shrink, intensifying the close-quarters combat. A notable feature in Intrude is the AT-CAMO suit, an advanced camouflage that dynamically adjusts to the environment, similar to MGS4's Octocamo, but with manual selection options, allowing for strategic concealment. Additionally, the 'Naked Sense' gadget provides players with a general indication of nearby enemies and items, enhancing the tactical depth of engagements.
While 'Fox Hunt' differentiates itself from the traditional 'Metal Gear Online' experience, it effectively integrates Delta's fundamental mechanics. However, its release two months after the main game's launch, coupled with only two initial modes, raises questions about sustained player engagement. Despite this, the innovative use of stealth and detection tools within 'Fox Hunt' could still offer a compelling reason for players to return to the world of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
This innovative approach to multiplayer gaming within a beloved franchise demonstrates a commitment to evolving interactive entertainment. By blending classic stealth with modern competitive elements, the developers are not merely revisiting past glories but actively shaping future gaming experiences, encouraging players to engage with familiar mechanics in novel and challenging ways.
